In her extensive work, Fernanda Fragateiro (Montijo, Portugal, 1962) develops a work strongly supported in the interest for artistic and architectural practices from the vanguard of the XX century. An interest that informs the work itself and often takes shape through subtle changes on existing landscapes and objects, that naturally reveal stories contained within themselves. Working on a wide range of materials and references, her work retains a clearly defined style, as a result of a minimalistic aesthetic concerning to shape, color and surface texture.
Throughout time, Fernanda Fragateiro always used sculpture and installation as a means of expression, working on space in its multiple phenomenological manifestations, – architectural, sculptural, private, public, temporal, socially determined, – either through works of sculpture, installations or outdoor interventions, like gardens, architectural projects collaborations or works based on the public participation.

Fragateiro’s exhibition “Processo” brings together a set of sculptures produced in the last years, that can be reconfigured and adapted to the space, as well as a set of works made specifically for this place.
Through these pieces the artist builds a strong dialogue not only with the International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture, but also with the Abade Pedrosa Archaeology Museum adding to its collection the remains of the self-built Bairro 6 de Maio, at Amadora, Portugal.
The work for this exhibition develops from several matters, methodologies and research content, intending to explore and show the importance of the processes of her work; the plurality of materials and incentives that converge to the construction of the pieces – drawings, photographs, books, magazine pages, conversations, rumors, material remains, scale tests, color tests, – themselves transformed into raw materials.
