The Santo Tirso International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture is currently a landmark in the international artistic scene, where visitors embark on a boundless adventure of the mind. For those who take on the challenge to walk around its open-air collection of sculptures, MIEC offers an intricate network of shapes, colours, massive volumes or unimposing passages, puzzling figures and resplendent recesses, making their imagination run well beyond the reach of their arms.

Begun in 1990, this project has grown and matured without haste. It now contains more than fifty art pieces throughout the town’s gardens and other public spaces — a diversified estate intended to represent the myriad of artistic trends and viewpoints, particularly concerning sculpture and its varied relationship with public space.
