Time seems of late to slip away between our fingers, such is the way it has been compressed, even at the level of every fleeting moment. That leads to changes that obviously interfere with our lives. Everything has suddenly become ephemeral. Almost virtual friendships, fixed-term employment contracts, job insecurity… The ability to pause, think, reason is dismissed as obsolete. This may be one (among many) possible description of our reality. The exhibition now opening is intended as an attempt to recover that intimate contact with reality and, precisely because of that, does not cease to challenge it – not to provide answers, but to question it instead, in that particular way pertaining to art. Thus, the works shown by Fernando José Pereira and Ângela Ferreira move between sculpture inhabited by images and (video) images inhabited by sculptural elements.
