The WINDOW, an element that frequently repeats within a wall, is a complex regulatory system filtering light, landscape, climate, sound, matter, and the body. When one of its components is removed, in response to an attributed obsolescence, the functioning of the system is compromised.
Throughout the investigation of the WINDOW, we observed this movement: the breaking down of the system into its components and the consequent rupture of the link with the geometric, functional, and symbolic parameters that determined it. We followed the trajectories of each of the components (discarding, safeguarding, storage, maintenance, and re-use) and identified applications that expand these parameters: disassemblies and deformations, deviations and repurposings, resignifications and revaluations.
As a provocation, this essay of intermédios* counters the dispersive movement we observed and reconstructs the WINDOW system in a sequence that symbolically orders its components, from exterior to interior.
Following on from DOORS and PRACTICES (essays published in 2025), in WINDOW, the print format is expanded into an exhibition that gives physical form to the material research. From the progressive discovery of sites and discarded components, we present representations of these in their places of origin or storage, elements arranged in a process of intervention, transition and transformation, and new compositions.
