Amy Yoes – Correspondências

Amy Yoes was born in 1959 and spent her childhood in Houston, Texas, USA. Between 1979 and 1984, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and since then has lived in Chicago, San Francisco, and, since 1998, in New York City.

Author of a multifaceted body of work, Amy Yoes explores various media such as installation, painting, video, photography, and sculpture, having also produced some public art projects. Her work is also characterized by an interest in decorative language and architectural space, resources she explores in the various site-specific works she has created.

Since the mid-1980s, her work has been seen in many solo and group exhibitions both in the United States and in Europe, Portugal included.

Her exhibition titled “Correspondências” will be on view at the Museu Internacional de Escultura Contemporânea de Santo Tirso and the Museu Municipal Abade Pedrosa, composed of sculptures from the artist’s collection as well as new sculptures, where the usual features that characterize her work will be visible.
