\u201cCabra-cega\u201d (Blind Man\u2019s Buff) brings together the works of third-year Sculpture students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto, marking the beginning of their artistic and identity-forming journeys. The exhibition adopts the experimental nature of a practice still in the process of (trans)formation: amid approaches, detours, desires, and discoveries, a territory emerges where subjectivity is constructed through matter, gesture, and the relationship with spaces and bodies. <\/p>\n\n
The title revisits the children\u2019s game of blind man\u2019s buff as a metaphor for the process of seeking. Moving forward without a clear direction; coming to know the world through uncertainty (not knowing); finding comfort in the unknown; postponing the end of trivialities are pithy phrases that conceptually underpin all the projects presented. In this context, there is a ludic dimension that does not exclude vulnerability; on the contrary, it is within this dimension that it is possible to experiment, fail, repeat, and reinvent ways of seeing and making sense of things. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cCabra-cega\u201d is a result of the 9th artistic-pedagogical residency \u2013 Desloca\u00e7\u00f5es<\/em>, a partnership between the International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. Throughout its various editions, it has been deepening and learning to reinvent itself through repetition, creating opportunities to shift away and break free from the institutional, pedagogical, and creative routines of both entities. In this continuous movement of departure, encounter, and reconfiguration, new spaces for experimentation, sharing, and engagement with different contexts of artistic production are opened up. <\/p>\n\n The exhibition also established a dialogue with the archaeological collection of the Abade Pedrosa Municipal Museum. The remains and the pristine forms, themselves displaced from their original time, find contemporary sculpture practice, creating, in the present, a space for coexistence where different ways of relating to matter and memory converge.
