Ernesto Knorr – Dinâmicas de Encontro

a

The work of Ernesto Knorr, a sculptor with an extensive professional career, is part of important public and private collections, with special emphasis on his interventions in public spaces. He possesses a very personal sculptural language, which can be defined through four main characteristics: balance, tension, movement, and contrast. The balance, which he achieves intuitively, causes the sculpture to convey harmony. The sum of all its energies results in “balanced repose.” Tension reaches its ultimate point when the volumes come as close as possible without ever touching. The magic – the spark – arises from the imminent contact between two masses. The movement created by the unlikely arrangement of the masses, as if they had crystallized in a moment, seems to challenge the force of gravity. The contrast between the heavy and the light, the void and the matter, gives the pieces greater emotional charge and allows for a diversity of viewpoints.
